About the event
Embarking on a personal quest for the truth about God, she explored many world religions before becoming a Christian & is widely read. As a Barnabas Aid supporter, this has included several excellent books by Partrick Soodkdeo, an expert on Islam. This also took her to a debate at the NEC between the well-known Sheik Ahmed Husein Deedat, a formidable Muslim author and evangelist, and Dr. Anis Shorrosh, a Palestinian Christian missionary. It was entitled ‘Is the Bible or the Quran the Word of God?’ Shorrosh made the statement ‘The Quran is the word of God where it agrees with the Bible!’ An interesting conclusion!
Having visited the Middle East and taken an avid interest in understanding the importance of Israel in God’s redemptive plan, Mary has become increasingly aware of the huge spiritual battle between the ‘Abrahamic faiths’, leading to the present conflict. A greater understanding of Islam will give us confidence to engage with Muslims & help us to intercede more effectively.
