Core Values

CORE VALUES for the community at Red Hill include:

  • Engaging in a Life of Worship: That the reason for our existence is to glorify God and to seek to express that through our lives is a key value. (1 Sam 12:24; John 17:4) The Scripture states that God seeks for intercessors  (Ezk 22:30) and worshippers (John 4:23). All else flows from a heart that is submitted in loving obedience to God.

  • Being prepared to give a reason for the hope that is within us: That by our life and words we bear witness to the life of Messiah that is within us by the Holy Spirit and that we take opportunities that He gives us to share our faith with others. (Eph 6:19-20; 2 Tim 2:15)

  • Honesty and Integrity: That we value truth and righteousness in our relationship with God and with others,
treating everyone with honour and respect, refraining from gossip and abusive speech. We value keeping an
attitude of openness and humility to the work of the Holy Spirit in our lives and actively seek to support and
encourage our brothers and sisters in the Body. (Matt 7:12, 22:39)

  • Physical and Spiritual Health: We regard with importance pursuing a healthy lifestyle, both physically and
spiritually, avoiding those things which would pollute our lives or draw us away from the Lord. (Gal 5:19–21)

  • Exercising Our Gifts for the benefit of the Body: To seek our gifting in the Holy Spirit and to express our love for others by the use of that gifting for the building up of the body of Messiah within Red Hill and also the wider community of believers. (1 Cor 12:1–7)

  • Marriage and Sexuality: We value faithfulness in keeping promises and agreements and honouring our marriage vows. We assert that sexual relations are to be kept only within marriage and that the only true definition of marriage is between one man and one woman as defined within the scriptures and we assert that there are only two genders, (male and female). (Rom 1:24–28; Heb 13:4; Eph 5:22–33)

  • Supporting the Life of the Community: One of our core values is supporting the work and witness of Red Hill, where possible, including, attendance at times of worship, home groups (either online or in person), Bible
studies, prayer meetings, teaching times, seminar days, work parties and social events. We believe that a ‘God ordained’ essential means of supporting the life of the community is by tithing into the common purse, for the benefit of the body and the expansion of the work of His kingdom, seeking to share all that God has given to us. (Heb 10:25; Luke 6:38; Acts 2:42–47)

  • Submission to Godly Leadership: Valuing those who God places in authority with a spiritual responsibility for us is vital and placing ourselves under the care and protection of the Spiritual Council who are accountable to God for the teaching and nurturing of the Body and accepting loving guidance and discipline should the occasion arise. (Heb 13:17)
